Panacea Surgical Clinic: Transforming a New Space into a Seamless Healthcare Experience
When Panacea Surgical Clinic opened its new location in Waterdown, Ontario, they faced the challenge of furnishing a completely new space. The clinic needed a setup that could comfortably support staff and patients while looking professional and feeling welcoming.
Panacea had specific goals in mind. The reception area needed to accommodate as many patients as possible; private offices and consult rooms had to be functional and professional; and Panacea’s team needed a comfortable break room.
They also wanted a layout that maximized space without sacrificing accessibility. With a projected capacity of up to 40–50 people at a time, it was essential that the furniture and layout worked for both staff and patients.

Reception Desks That Set The Tone
The moment you see this front desk, there’s a clear sense of organization and flow. That’s exactly how Panacea wanted every interaction at reception to feel.
To support the clinic’s team, we chose the You Too series from Allseating. Designed to promote active sitting, the You collection encourages natural movement throughout the day to support better posture, comfort, and overall performance.
We picked these chairs specifically for the front desk team, who operate in one of the busiest areas of the clinic. With constant interaction, movement, and multitasking, they needed seating that could keep up and keep them comfortable while doing it.
Waiting Made Comfortable
The biggest challenge came in the reception waiting area, where structural posts in the corners created some awkward layout constraints.
Panacea wanted an open U-shaped seating arrangement to make the most of the space, so our team got creative. Through in-person consultations and detailed space planning, we developed a solution that optimized seating, maintained clear traffic flow, and worked around the posts.
We furnished the space with Allseating’s Exchange collection. Exchange is a modular seating system built with wide range of customizable options. The beauty of Exchange is its flexibility. It allowed us to create the U-shaped reception configuration Panacea needed, while thoughtfully working around the large structural posts in the space.
It also allowed us to maximize seating. By working seamlessly around obstacles, we maintained a clean and cohesive aesthetic throughout the reception area. Now it sets the tone for a welcoming first impression as soon as patients arrive.

Patient Care in the Consultation Rooms
In the consultation rooms, we focused on creating spaces that feel calm, private, and reassuring. These rooms are where patients can feel comfortable having important conversations. At the same time, the rooms needed to support healthcare professionals with ergonomic, functional seating that allows them to stay focused and present throughout the day.
To add variety while maintaining a cohesive look, we mixed seating styles between rooms. In one, we paired You task chairs with Tuck guest seating to balance performance and comfort. In another, we combined Dart and Ruhe to create a slightly different aesthetic while still delivering the same level of support and professionalism.
The result is a set of consultation spaces that feels intentional, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed for both patient experience and clinical efficiency.
Lunch, Lounge, and Reset
Lastly, we wanted to make sure employees had the right environment to truly rest and recharge. In a healthcare setting, where the pace can be demanding and the days full, a well-designed break room is essential.
We focused on creating a space that feels comfortable, inviting, and separate from the clinical environment. Supportive seating, practical tables, and a thoughtful layout give staff a place to step away, reset, and connect with one another.
For a cohesive style throughout the office, we carried the same Exchange seating from the waiting rooms to the employee lounge area. This time, an L-shape configuration worked best for the space and gave the team a spacious place to relax.
The eating area uses Tuck chairs, which are also used in the consultation rooms. We love using the Tuck series because of the stacking feature. It’s thoughtfully designed to be there when you need it, and to conveniently tuck away when you don’t.
Its lightweight, stackable design makes it ideal for lunchrooms, where flexibility is key and employee numbers can shift from day to day. Staff can easily add or remove seating as needed, keeping the space functional, adaptable, and clutter-free.
